10/01-2026 CCIE Security Study Status

Status Update:

Its weekend, which means its time to do a review on my study progress (along with other life items), but lets focus on the study part.

First off, i have about 12 weeks left before my next attempt. It is scheduled for April 13th.

Time is ticking…. Fast.

Currently Studying:

At the present moment, im going through a Python refresher, to make sure im ready for the Automation part of the exam.

Theory:

The theory part, includes reading and watching videos of relevant topics. Im doing quite good in this area as it entails about 60-70% of my study time. I averaged around 20 hours of this in the last week (not counting this weekend though).

The big items that remains in the Theory part, are:

  • DNAC/Catalyst center integration with ISE.
  • Some random ISE items and administration.
  • Posture.
  • Clientless VPN on the ASA (with ASDM).
  • Automation.
  • Umbrella.

Labbing:

I still need to lab out a bunch of things all the way up to my attempt. This includes pretty much every technology on the blueprint. This week i feel like i havent labbed enough. There has simply been too many items i needed to cover theory wise.

I did however do some labbing though:

  • VPN with the ASA and routers (to and through) using both IKEv1 and IKEv2.
  • I spun up my own WSA lab and did:
    • WSA with basic identification profiles.
    • WSA with Custom URL filtering.
    • WSA with AD integration and active authentication.

But as i mentioned, i should focus more on labbing next week. Need to put in more repetitions (which equals more hours).

SAFE Reading:

This is a sore thumb for me. I didnt do any reading on SAFE this past week. This has to change in the coming weeks for me to have a fighting chance. I should do some reading each morning as this is the time of day im motivated and alert, which means i will have a higher retention rate.

In Summary:

What this boils down to, status wise, is that i need to spend more time studying. And I have to lean toward the safe reading and more lab time.

Thats it for now.

Take Care!!
