2026 Mid Year Status

Overview

Today is June 15th - 2026 and I want to provide an update on everything study related, so thanks for taking the time reading this.

Studies

CCIE Security Lab Exam

After my latest fail score on the CCIE Security Lab exam, i have taken some time on reflecting on the exam and how to proceed. Something is clearly standing in my way of passing this beast of an exam.

I think it comes down to not having enough real world experience in a lot of these technologies.

I have a couple of coworkers, who are also going down the security path for CCIE at the moment, and I hope that, together, we can overcome this hurdle with time. Especially since a few of them are working with these technologies on a day to day basis.

SDWAN

Im doing a lot of SDWAN work (Cisco SDWAN that is) in my job role. All from architecting to implementation so that leads me to having to spend a fair bit of time on getting to know new stuff coming out as well as many different customer requirements and how to achieve those with Cisco’s SDWAN solution.

To that effect, im setting up a new home lab to try out a lot of these technologies. I had a very old one, but i want to try some newer software.

My lab environment is still based on EVE-NG, which i really like.

The following are some topics i am going to explore in further detail:

  • SD-Routing.
  • Configuration Groups.
  • Workflows.
  • New SDWAN fabric software.

Courses for CE credits

I also just finished the latest Revup To Recert course (SDSI), which was actually quite good. The fact that it also earned me 41 CE credits is just a great bonus. On that note, i really love that Cisco offers these free courses as the Cisco U. full package is $6000, which is crazy.

2nd half of 2026

Its going to be a busy second half of 2026, both work wise, as i have a lot of projects lined up with deadlines, but also from a study perspective.

That being said, i also want to make sure i dont (again!) go all out and not enjoy myself in other areas of life. Summer holidays are coming up and i want to be sure i recharge my batteries before second half really starts.

Again, thanks for reading. I appreciate it.

Take Care!!
